The Trump Show Trial – 2024?
The Bragg prosecution of Donald Trump is just the latest in a series of show trials arranged for our benefit by the Biden Administration and Blue state prosecutors. The obvious purpose of the planned trial is to eliminate or defeat the leading Republican candidate for president in 2024. His supporters are being taught an object lesson: the Bill of Rights and the rule of law are dead, or at least hobbled. The message was clear, an ex-president and multi-billionaire can be destroyed. So, be quiet, obey, or face the consequences.
The prosecution of Trump is biased, flawed, and obviously motivated by politics. During his campaign, Bragg made it clear Trump would be a target of his prosecutorial wrath. Once in office, Bragg assigned a small army of assistant DAs and staff to a year-long investigation of alleged minor offenses years past the statute of limitations. Meanwhile, thousands of actual felonies went unprosecuted.
Bragg conjured up new and unusual legal doctrines, including the right for a local state DA to prosecute a federal crime. In 52% of cases, he routinely reduced felonies for rape and assault to misdemeanors. Trump’s misdemeanor was INCREASED from a 7-year-old administrative error to thirty-four charges and multiple felonies.
Trial judge Juan Merchan is a Biden voter and campaign contributor. His daughter is a well-known Democratic Party-political operative. Bragg himself was elected with the help of a large campaign donation from George Soros via a political action committee. Judge Merchan set a target date for the trial during the 2024 presidential campaign, which will disrupt Trump’s re-election efforts. Like all show trials, the fix is in… but that is the point.
The Moral of the Story
The Trump and January 6th show trials are not fundamentally different in purpose than other notoriously politicized prosecutions. Show trials are about politics and power – the insiders versus the outsiders. Hold a show trial with plenty of bells and whistles when all else fails. Biden and his supporters learned this lesson well.
Every political show trial is nothing more, and certainly not less, than the use and abuse of legal proceedings to crush a person or a movement that threatens the established order. Even our politically correct dictionaries get the point: a show trial is “an unfair trial of somebody in court, organized by a government for political reasons, not in order to find out the truth.” (Oxford Learner’s Dictionary) Thus it takes on the form of a legally acceptable proceeding, but beneath the veneer, it is a naked display of power.
Show trials almost always abuse police and legal powers and are exceedingly unfair to defendants. The trials are faked, heavily biased, and almost always end in guilty verdicts. Defendants are denied their theoretical rights, and their access to defense counsel is limited or hammered down by biased judicial rulings. Show trials are always widely publicized. They are a spectacle held in public or widely reported.
So, history teaches us that show trials have four important purposes. The first is retribution. Socrates was a fall guy for the defeat of Athens in its long war against Sparta. He was blamed for helping to create the conditions that led to defeat. The English hated Joan. She upset their applecart, defeated them in the battle of Orleans, and set back their conquest of France. Judicial murder was her punishment. Stalin was a first-rate hater. Killing his enemies and rivals was a pleasure. Today, nothing would give Trump haters more pleasure than getting even with the guy who got in their way in 2016.
Intimidation is the next important feature. The show trial is an object lesson to opponents and to their supporters. Joan was beloved by ordinary French men and women. She was a symbol of hope and resistance to the invaders. The judicial murder of Joan was a warning to her followers: resist and die.
Trump is a symbol of resistance to woke fascism, globalism, and corporatism. Putting him on trial and judicially persecuting the January 6th defendants beyond all reason is an obvious and deliberate warning to half the US population. Step out of line, and we will crush you utterly.
Neutralization is also an important aspect of show trials. Stalin used show trials to kill off his internal political opposition and consolidate his personal power. Zinoviev was once a powerful Soviet official. Stalin had him killed. The lesson could not be clearer. The multi-staged, relentless use of the legal system against Trump is the current “American” way to eliminate a political rival. Ceaseless DOJ and state investigations, combined with the consistent application of a double standard and the threat of a show trial, are calculated to neutralize the Democrat’s most dangerous opponent.
And there is distraction. The Athenian people lost their war and their empire they were upset. Things were out of control. The trial diverted their attention. Joan defeated the English armies. The war was expensive and bloody. Condemning and killing Joan distracted the English people from an increasingly useless war. January 6th show trials gave the pro-Biden and Democrat media plenty of material to distract the public from our domestic woes. Show trials took the focus from inflation, crime, the border crisis, and a host of other problems—a perfect political manipulation of the news cycle day after day for months. Years.
So, expect more show trials before the election. The Democrats are not done with Trump or his supporters. Show trials are alive and well in the United States.
